Cleaning Produce

Bicarbonate of Soda / Baking Soda & Vinegar Fruit & Vegetable Wash 

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoons baking soda
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup organic white vinegar
  • 1 cup filtered, OR spring water

Special Equipment

  • Spray bottle
  • Tall pitcher

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients in a tall pitcher to allow space for baking soda’s “foam eruption” that occurs after vinegar is added.
  • Store in an empty spray bottle.
  • Spray on fruit, wait ten minutes, and wash off with cool filtered or spring water.
  • Enjoy your clean, safe, delicious produce.

Hydrogen Peroxide Fruit & Vegetable Wash 

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoons 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide
  • 2L filtered, OR spring water

Instructions

  • Add 2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide to 2L of filtered or spring water into the kitchen sink or a washing bowl.
  • Place fruit and vegetables into the hydrogen peroxide water several minutes before storing or working with them.
  • Enjoy your clean, safe, delicious produce.
  •  Hydrogen peroxide will not only kill unwanted bacteria it also strips off pesticides from the outer layer of the fruit or vegetable skins.
  • Hydrogen peroxide also oxygenates the fruit and vegetables giving them a much longer storage life.
