Doctors Beyond Medicine has been treating the whole person — not just the disease — for more than 30 years.
Our story
It started at sea. In 1992, Dr Mickaeel McDonald founded Doctors Across Borders NPC, sailing a medical boat along the coastlines of East Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and Southeast Asia — researching medicinal plants and treating people along the way.
In 1998, the team settled in Southern Africa, expanding into community healthcare across Namibia and South Africa. Dr Colleen O’Carroll, who compiled our treatment protocols, led the organisation as CEO from 2000 until her passing in 2019.
In 2015, Doctors Across Borders NPC began trading as Doctors Beyond Medicine™.
Today, our team spans natural medicine, surgery, dentistry, herbalism, traditional African and Chinese medicine, and psychology — with specialist focus on cancer and other serious disease, plus dedicated veterinary and emergency rescue divisions.

Over 15 years of international field experience treating serious disease, with particular expertise in gut health and the connection between mind, food, and healing. Dr Sakeena developed the 5 Track Plan and co-created the ImmunoClean™ programs with Dr Mickaeel.
